Software developers (and not just them) quite often believe that remote work is one of the best things that can happen during their career. Sitting at home or even better, laying on the beach with a laptop on your knees, while drinking some fancy beverage and of course coding from time to time (you’re not at the office anymore, therefore your boss ain’t gonna observe what are you actually doing) pictures like a some kind of dream. But is it really like this?

Many of us, and I’m not speaking just about folks within the IT industry, sometimes have this feeling about the missed opportunity. It might be related to the job, some project or anything else that somehow we didn’t manage to accomplish due to some specific reasons (maybe just a bad luck or even the laziness). However, sometimes missing a particular opportunity doesn’t mean that the world has come to an end, actually, it might turn into something even better and unexpected.

In case you’re not familiar with the Warden project that I’ve been working for the last few months, I strongly recommend you to take a look, as you may find this tool especially useful for monitoring your infrastructure and resources. So what is the Warden Spawn? It’s a brand new repository within the Warden Stack that will let you configure the instance of the Warden monitoring application using the human readable configuration files – and that’s just the beginning!

There are many ways to perform a validation of our models living within the system. Whether there’s an incoming request from the user who would like to create an account or there’s a need to ensure about the correct amount of money in a bank transaction, the validation process should always (I really mean that) take place. In today’s post, I’d like to present one of the possible solutions that might help you validate your entities.

Last time I wrote a post about the commands. Events are quite similar to the commands – the main difference between these 2 patterns is that the events are related to the things that have actually happened to our entity e.g. by invoking the command. They’re also a core part of the DDD (Domain Driven Desing) and can be easily implemented within our software solution.

Which one of us doesn’t like to give commands? It’s the natural way to ask (in a polite way) for a specific task that needs to be completed. Therefore, it shouldn’t be surprising that the command pattern can be also easily implemented within our software, which might provide some serious benefits in terms of loose coupling the existing code.

Within the last few weeks, a lot of things have happened in terms of the Warden project. It has gained already quite some popularity and became a whole stack of different applications and technologies with a single, ultimate goal which is providing the unified interface and set of tools to help you monitor and automatically resolve the issues with the maintenance of your system, infrastructure and resources.

If you take a look at the title of this post and instantly think it’s a trap or bait – let me prove you wrong. This is not going to be one of these catchy titles, so “what kind of bs am I going to read here” has little use in this place. Actually, this is 100% true that contributing to the open source community might greatly affect your life – and it goes far beyond daily activities related to the coding. Therefore, let me tell you a short story about a guy, typical .NET developer, who not so long ago al...

Do you ever feel like (well, you should) these huge switch + case statements or too many ifs seem to be wrong? What if I told you, there’s one simple trick that will change your life, by getting rid of them? Ok, seriously – I have nothing against switch or if as the way of controlling the flow (I use them quite often) however, there are certain occasions at which the things could be done better. And let me show you another way to achieve the same goal which is much cleaner in terms of code readability a...

NDepend is one of these tools, that I have ever wanted to try out, but somehow couldn’t find the right moment to do so. Quite recently, I’ve eventually decided to give it a shot and I can honestly say that I’m very impressed with the outcome. This tool provides so many statistics and analytics that I’m still wondering what else can be checked in terms of .NET projects complexity, structure, layering, readability and other important things which in the end make a real difference between the great, good, ...

18th of June was a very looooong day for me, starting at 4 AM and finishing about 2 AM over 22 hours later. Hours full of joy, emotions, fun, laugh, knowledge and most importantly meeting in person all of these amazing people from the IT community being spread out throughout the whole Poland. 18th of June was the culmination of the Daj Się Poznać 2016 competition, where all of the participants interested in joining this wonderful event have met in the Microsoft office in the Capital City of Warsaw.

Hey, do you remember one of my latest posts in which I’ve described how easy it is to integrate the C# with Slack? I’ve taken this concept a little bit further and created a new type of integration which can do pretty much the same thing but in a more sophisticated way in terms of configuration and available options. So, are you ready to integrate your Warden with the Slack?

Hello folks here comes another one Watcher which is responsible for the process monitoring. This one isn’t really sophisticated, as there isn’t not much to do in terms of the process validation, yet you might find it useful under certain situations.

Good morning, this is gonna be a very short post, as it’s truly super easy to integrate the C# with the Slack API. We’ll make use of the latest .NET Core version listed as the dnxcore50 and build a console application that you can use to send the messages to the particular channel.

JSON format has been a standard used amongst many different framework and languages for quite a few years now. It’s so cool, that even the .NET Core team have decided to include it in its framework which results in e.g. being able to store the application settings within a JSON file, which is much more human readable and less bloated than the old one App or Web.config written using the XML. In today’s post, I’d like to present how easy it is to create your own JSON configuration reader and move the appl...

The last day of the Daj Się Poznać competition in which I’ve gladly participated has finally come. It was full 3 months of intense work, blogging and literally trying in different ways to become a little more recognizable in the IT community. Was it worth it? Was it difficult? Would I do the same thing again? I can give you a short answer of 3xYES, however, I’d like to invite you to read the whole summary as you may find some helpful content here that could provide answers for some of your doubts or que...
